It’s the Speed Works Motorsport Championship finale and it will be action all the way at the iconic Pukekohe Park Raceway and the Flying Farewell meeting, with the weekend action headed by the PORTERGROUP V8 Utes, unlimited racers from the TRADEZONE GTRNZ series and the fabulous Pirelli Porsche Championship series.
With it being the final round for many categories, championships will be won and lost this weekend around the challenging and super-fast sweeping curves and straights of the Pukekohe track.
Both TRADEZONE GTRNZ grids are on show this weekend and if you haven’t witnessed them before then you are in for a powerful and earth shaking treat. The GT1 and GT2 grids bring together a mouth-watering collection of machinery that genuinely includes some of the fastest four wheeled circuit racing machinery in the country. Supercars, TransAms, Daytona Prototypes, multi-rotor Mazdas and highly developed touring cars dominate and the name of the game is speed. The GT3 and GT4 machines are not quite as exotic, but in most cases are works of art created and developed in the drivers’ own garages and workshops. The grids are big and the racing is epic.
It’s epic in the Pirelli Porsche Championship too and if you are a fan of the German marque then you can see some of the finest examples of racing Porsches right here. 991, 997, 996, 964 and 944 are all there. Paul Kelly and Brian McGovern are the ones to watch.
Adding to the tin top flavour are the NEXEN Tyre Pro 7 Mazda Racing series, with classes for the iconic RX7, the later RX8 and the ever popular MX5. Hi-Q Components Formula First offers nose to tail racing and slipstreaming action from start to finish and have enjoyed one of the all-time great seasons in new Zealand with some breath taking action and racing. Both are great additions to this Speed Works meeting.
Last but not least are the NZ Super Trucks, now renamed the GITI Truck Tyres Racing Series the biggest and meanest racing machines on NZ circuits today. Stand well back and feel the thunder!
