NEXEN Mazda Pro7

The domestic racing series for Mazdas is one of the longest running in the country, providing innovative and cost-effective racing. The series maintains a controlled rulebook which limits modifications to Mazda RX7 and RX8 production cars that are eligible to compete.

These are good times for the Mazda racers, with new classes for cars within the series proving to be very popular. This coming season the category has a brand new title sponsor and plans for televising at least three of the six rounds of its series.

NEXEN and DTM Wheel and Tyre have stepped in to provide title sponsorship for the series - which has been on the bill at New Zealand racing meetings for 27 years - and it will now be known as the NEXEN Mazda Pro7 series.

With the new sponsor on board, and with increased numbers in its field, the NEXEN Mazda Pro7 series will televise both of its New Zealand Championship rounds - at the Bruce McLaren Motorsport Park, Taupo over the weekend of December 2-3 and at the Mike Pero Motorsport Park, Ruapuna, over the weekend of January 12-14. It will also be aiming to televise its highest profile round, which takes place at the New Zealand Grand Prix at Circuit Chris Amon, Manfeild between February 9-11. A further option could also be the Toyota Racing Series New Zealand Motor Cup round at Hampton Downs International Motorsport Park between January 26-28.
